PARK BOARD MINUTES
April 2, 1990
years before development of the park is completed. Don Volk
suggested that a neighborhood meeting should be organized
before development of the park begins . He said that this
worked well with Rice Lake Estates , neighbors appreciate it .
Trails have not been addressed on the plat . There are
existing trails to the east of the plat in Reshanau Lake
Estates South. The applicant assured the board that in two
weeks new plats will be presented to the city outlining the
trails systems. It was discussed that the trail will start
on the east end of the plat , connecting with Reshanau Lake ' s
trail system, meander through his plat and end at the
proposed park site.
MOTION: Ray Johnson moved to recommend to the city council
to accept the approximately 1 . 5 acre parcel in the south west
end of the parcel as dedicated park land and the balance to
be submitted as a $400 . 00 per lot cash dedication. The trail
system will be reviewed and approved by staff. John Bauman
seconded the motion and the motion was approved unanimously.
George Lindy stressed that he is not comfortable with this
proposal because the five acre parcel in the Barott property
has not yet been claimed as park land.
Don Volk stated that the Barrott property will probably be
developed within the near future. He stated that when this
is developed, whether it is by Rick Carlson or another
developer, the park board minutes will be in the file, and
staff will be able to refer to these when establishing park
dedication.
CONSIDERATION OF ARBOR DAY PROCLAMATION AND EARTH DAY
PROCLAMATION.
Marty Asleson presented the board with resolutions on both
Arbor Day and Earth Day.
Marty explained that earth and arbor day have come together
to be celebrated on the same day. That day is April 21st .
The Arbor Day program is well under way. Diane Schally is in
charge of the program and John Bauman is working on supplying
food for the celebration.
Marty estimates that 150 people will be attending the Earth
Keepers program and approximately 50 people will attend Arbor
Day.
Trees will be donated by Rick Walters from Northway Garden
n Center.
There will be many people volunteering their time in clean-up
day.
Page 3
