PARK BOARD MEETING SEPTEMBER 8, 1992 1. Park Dedication for the following: subdivision (lot split) request at 985 Birch St. - Royal Oaks Realty, the addition to Northern Instruments building at 6680 Hwy 49, site remodeling and paving of parking area for Buys Chiropractic at 7661 Lake Drive, and for a lot split on Sunset Drive and North Road requested by J. MacNeil. Marty Asleson will research this and bring his findings to the next park board meeting. 2 . Youth Committee - Mr. Johnson inquired as to the status of the formation of a youth committee as discussed at previous meetings. Marty Asleson says he has had some inquiries from a few interested teens and hasn't had enough time recently to follow up on it. He explained that there has not been a lot of interest shown for a committee such as this. There was a notice in the last recreation brochure asking interested youth to contact the parks and recreation department. 3 . Marshan Shores Park - Mr. Johnson wanted to know where the park boundary is supposed to be in the Shores of Marshan Lake development. He has noticed that traffic is coming and going across what is supposed to be park land. Marty Asleson will see that an orange fence and signage is put up to keep traffic away from the proposed park area. 4 . Forestry - Ray Johnson reports that he saw a man marking trees for oak wilt yesterday and when he inquired as to what the man was doing, was told that he was hired by the City. Marty Asleson explained that two people from the Kunde Company (a professional forestry service) were hired using cost share dollars to mark trees for the City. Ray wanted to know what will be accomplished by doing this. Marty explained that the vibratory plow will be sent to the areas marked by the end of September. Department staff is currently in the process of putting together a letter to residents involved. NEW BUSINESS• Brochures - Fall and Winter Programs - Marty Asleson referred the board members to the Parks and Recreation Department Fall and Winter brochure they received in their packets. This brochure was sent out to all Lino Lakes city residents two weeks ago. Marty explained the offerings and that some programs were being dropped for lack of registration such as kids soccer, and others such as kidsercise, karate and aerobics are a big hit again this year. Marty Asleson asked the board to contact him if they have any suggestions for future brochures. Ray Johnson commented that the VFW will be offering gun safety classes at City Hall for three Saturday mornings in October. This 4
