CITY OF LINO LAKES
PARK BOARD MEETING
MONDAY, JULY 12, 1993
discussion as to how much money the board should request be
initially budgeted to start the ball rolling. $2000 was suggested,
but some board members thought that was not enough of a sum to let
the council know how serious the board is in pursuing this matter.
The figure of $5000 was suggested to "let the council know that we
want to make a commitment. "
MOTION: After further discussion, Brian Bourassa made a motion to
recommend to council that they budget $5000 to start the process of
locating and purchasing a 50 acre site for the athletic complex as
identified in the comprehensive plan. Also to look at other sites
as other options should the Whitcomb property not be attainable.
The motion was seconded by Ken Johnson. A vote was unanimous.
Motion passed.
H. City Hall Park Project Update
Several months ago the Park Board approved the idea of a Marine
Corps Reserve project to survey and grade the back acreage of City
Hall Park. Prior to any work being started, approval had to be
gotten from the union. Union Local 49 rejected the proposal saying
it had to be considered by the St. Paul Building and Construction
Trades Council. Marty Asleson had pursued approval through the
Trades Council and is currently awaiting their reply. He expects to
have an update at the next meeting.
i. Woodridge Estates Trail Issue - Resolved
This trail issue has finally been resolved through a joint meeting
with Mayor Reinert, the developer (Rick Carlson) , John Kuny of 212
Woodridge Lane and City Staff. The developer has agreed to not
install the trail on the south side of the Kuny house until there
is a trail link to the west of the ditch on the Kuny property. In
addition he will post an escrow account with the City to cover the
future installation of the trial. The City will install a trail
sign at the street side of the Kuny property consistent with all
other trail signs in the City, but there will be a small sign under
it stating "Trail Closed" . Mr. Kuny has agreed to remove the trees
he has planted on the City trail location after he receives the
$1000 that the developer has agreed to pay him. The trails are
posted closed for now. Marty Asleson noted that the Mayor was very
helpful in resolving this matter.
j . LaMotte Park Neighborhood Meeting Update
Brought up at the last Park Board meeting was the growing concern
of residents whose property adjoins LaMotte Park. They have
complained that children are using the park for a ballfield when it
is too small for that use. The balls are hit out of the park into
their yards and can cause damage.
7
