CITY OF LINO LAKES
i"N BARK BOARD MEETING
APRIL 5, 1993
Park was determined to be the number one short term priority.
Tonight the board discussed the dollar figures that they will ask
the council to approve for the funding of the various projects. The
board would like to send a letter to the council asking for funds.
MOTION: After a lengthy discussion, Brian Bourassa made a motion to
recommend that Marty Asleson prepare a letter to the council for
their next work session asking for the expenditure of funds as
follows:
A. Up to but no to exceed $18,000 for equipment and
improvements to Sunset Oaks Park
B. Up to but not to exceed $4000for a master plan design for
Country Lakes Park
C. Up to but not to exceed $18, 000 for a mini park in the
South Baldwin Lake area.
D. Another short term goal and a high priority is the need to
pave the remaining unpaved trails from past developments
and to pave those trails that are to be put in developments
now underway. The funding needed for this work is $20,000.
The motion was seconded and carried by a unanimous vote. Marty will
request that this item be put on the council work session agenda
this Wednesday, April 7th.
Another matter of discussion at this time was the A-3 park
property. Our comprehensive plan calls for a future athletic
complex type park in the area of Holly and 12th Avenue. The board
has discussed the purchase of property here from the owners now in
order to buy it at todays prices.
MOTION: Following further discussion, George Lindy made a motion
that Marty Asleson also convey to the city council in the letter
mentioned above, the board's wish to initiate negotiations with the
Whitcomb family for the possible purchase of 50+ acres for an
athletic type complex with a down payment at todays prices and the
possibility of mutually agreeable financing. The motion was
seconded and carried by a unanimous vote. (A copy of the letter
from Mr. Asleson to the Council can be found at the end of these
minutes. )
Friends of the Lino Lakes Parks - Jacquelyn Farm reported on the
progress of the Friends of Lino Lakes Parks foundation. The FLLP
will be selling plants at the Earth Day celebration on May 8th.
2
