CITY OF LINO LAKES
PARR BOARD MEETING
APRIL 5, 1993
They are looking for a project to raise at least $2500 this summer.
At the last meeting a representative from the Little Canada park
foundation gave some suggestions for fund raisers and explained how
their foundation was formed. Jacquelyn's husbands firm of Olsen,
Thielen is preparing the by-laws at no charge and she is working
with the Quad Press to get some attention in the newspapers. GOOD
JOB JACQUELYN!
OTHER OLD BUSINESS:
Plastic Boardwalks - George Lindy asked if Marty has had time to
get more information on the plastic boardwalks he showed at the
last meeting. Marty reported that he and Jeff Schoenabuer are to
look at trails tomorrow and he will be looking into this type of
boardwalks and other options. He will report back with information
at the next meeting.
NEW BUSINESS•
Park User Agreements/Special Event Permit Forms - Enclosed in the
packets were several park and ballfield use application forms,
specifically a "Special Event Permit Application" form to be used
in the event of a summer festival or large gatherings of over 1000
people, a "Reservations or Special Use of City Ballfields" form for
reserving city ballfields for a tournament, a "Request for Facility
Use" and "Waiver of Responsibility" form to be used when someone
wants to reserve one of the park shelters or indoor facilities and
a "Park/Picnic Shelter Reservation Application" used when someone
wants to use a park or picnic shelter for a picnic or small
gathering.
Marty Asleson explained that the Mayor had directed this department
to prepare documents such as these to better meet the problems of
liabilities, and he wanted the board to see the documents before
they go to council for approval. A discussion followed, some
concerns and comments were that the forms seemed too confusing and
too long. A few changes were made in some of the verbiage and
George Lindy suggested that it be made more clear on the front of
each document as to exactly what type of event it is for.
Shores of Marshan Lake Building Use - Marty Asleson brought this
before the board mostly as an informational matter. There has been
some thought of community use of the building or even a suggestion
.. of using it to meet the needs of the expanding parks and rec
department staff. This is not a budgeted project nor has a need
3
