CITY OF LINO LAKES <br /> PARR BOARD MEETING <br /> MONDAY, MARCH 1, 1993 <br /> park dedication proposal was accepted as presented. <br /> OLD BUSINESS- <br /> Woods of Baldwin Lake - Marty Asleson gave a brief update of this <br /> project. There was a lot of discussion at the last council meeting, <br /> and there were number of residents from that area in attendance. <br /> Linda Elliott explained that some of those residents were mis- <br /> informed as to exactly what type of park/playground would be put <br /> in. The council accepted the preliminary plat as was proposed. The <br /> project will proceed as planned and Marty Asleson will keep the <br /> board informed should there be a need for further discussion. <br /> Parks, Recreation and Forestry Update - A verbal update, Marty <br /> Asleson reported on the current status of the Recreation <br /> Department. The Spring and Summer activity brochure is being worked <br /> on now and will be mailed out approximately April 1. He asked that <br /> park board members contact him or Barry Bernstein if they have <br /> anything they would like to see be included in the brochure. <br /> n The Joseph Wargo Nature Center on County Road 14 will be opening <br /> the middle of June. Marty distributed a hand-out about the center. <br /> Mr. Asleson is working on the Arbor Day celebration for this year. <br /> He would like to schedule a celebration at Lino Lakes Elementary in <br /> the morning and one in the afternoon at Rice Lake Elementary. He <br /> also noted that Earth Day/Clean-up Day will be on May 15th this <br /> year. <br /> Apollo Meadows development has received a grant of $27,000 to do an <br /> energy efficient landscape study. Marty Asleson will be meeting <br /> with the developer and people from the County this week regarding <br /> this development. <br /> Barry Bernstein reported on the success of the skating rinks this <br /> winter. Country Lakes Park ice rink started out with little <br /> attention, but after Barry contacted the school to let them know <br /> the rinks on the lake were available to students daily and within <br /> a close walking distance to the school, the interest really picked <br /> up. There were large groups of students there several days during <br /> the past four or five weeks. All ice rinks in the city will close <br /> this week. <br /> Jacquelyn Farm reported that the Friends of Lino Lakes Parks <br /> Foundation is moving along. There is a Board of Directors now, and <br /> they will meet on March 4th to start to set up the by-laws. <br /> OIN <br />
