AGENDA ITEM 4 C
l
May 9, 1990
Mr. Steven Johnston
Merila & Associates_. Inc.
8401 - 73rd Avenue North
Brooklyn Park, MN 55428 STS Project 94951-A -
Re: Brandywood Estates Park Addition -
Dear Mr. Johnston:
STS Consultants, Ltd. has completed a field reconnaissance of the proposed Brandywood
Estates Park Addition, as requested by you. The location of the proposed park addition is
outlined on the enclosed copy of an aerial map of the area. The objective of the field
reconnaissance was to determine the approximate size and location of wetlands_ if present
on the parcel. Indicators of surface water hydrology, soil types, and vegetation types
present were evaluated to determine if wetland conditions were present on the site_
evidence of jurisdictional wetland conditions were identified at the site. Facultative
.etland species and evidence of limited spring flooding were found, but hydrological con-
ditions are insufficient to support a functional wetland. The extent of the area prone to
brief flooding events is limited to an area of approximately 25 feet in radius, centered
approximately 100 feet west of the eastern boundary and 25 feet north of the southern
boundary. The area prone to flooding is labeled as "seasonally moist" on the enclosed area
map. Generally, the gradual slope and poorly drained soils of the site allow water to
run-off from the site onto the property adjoining to the north, named the Brandywood
Estates Housing Development_
Based upon the site conditions observed at the time of the field reconnaissance, we con-
clude that wetland conditions are not present at the site.
Thank you for the opportunity to assist you on this project. If you have questions con-
cerning this letter, please contact us as soon as possible.
Sincerely,
STS CONSULTANTS, LTD.
-Theodore M. Frostman Steven J.
