PARK BOARD
January 6 , 1986
Page Three
EAST SIDE PARK PROPERTY
In early November, 1985 several landowners in the eastern portion
of the City received a letter from the City Administrator informing
those landowners of the need for park property on the east side and
asking for responses of interest in donating or selling their prop-
erty for park purposes . A few responses were received stating no
interest and three responses were received stating interest to sell .
The Board reviewed the three sale "proposals" and felt that they
needed more possibilities to choose from. Mr . Ray Johnson and Mr .
Nissen pointed out additional parcels of interest to the Board .
The City Administrator agreed to draft a follow-up letter and mail
to those persons who did not respond to the November 1985 mailing
and also to the additional landowners mentioned by Mr . Johnson and
Mr. Nissen .
ANOKA COUNTY PARK LEGISLATION
Per the Park Board ' s request at their Fast meeting , City staff con-
tacted several municipalities in Hennepin and Ramsey County and put
together notes of their responses to the question of how the counties
and municipalities work together with respect to county parks .
n The Board reviewed the responses , but also felt it would be helpful
to know how Anoka County and cities within Anoka County work together,
and what changes may occur should the park legislation be passed .
Chairman Johnson asked that the County Park representative and
possibly the County Commissioner representative for this portion
of the county be invited to the next meeting to explain this issue
more clearly . Mr. Flannery suggested that a liaison be named from
the City of Lino Lakes to the Anoka County Park Department to keep
open communications . Mr. Schumacher agreed to contact the representa-
tives and invite them to the next regular Park Board meeting .
POLICE REPORTS
One police report of minor damages ( tearing up dirt in driveway )
was reviewed by the Board . No action needed to be taken . Mr . Volk
noted that this type of problem should come to an end now because
gates have been installed at the park entrances as requested at
the last two meetings .
CAPITAL IMPROVEMENTS PLAN & 1986 BUDGET
Mr. Schumacher reported the 12/23/85 Council adopted the 1986 budget .
This budget earmarked $7 , 500 from general funds for capital outlay
for parks .
MOTION : Mr . Ray Johnson moved to have staff draft and send a letter
expressing the Park Board ' s appreciation for taking park needs into
consideration when authorizing the $7 , 500 for capital outlay in the
1986 budget . He asked that the letter be addressed to the Mayor
and Council and a copy of the capital improvements plan accompany
the letter. Mr. Nissen seconded the motion , which carried unani -
mously .
