PARK BOARD
November 4, 1985
Page Three
PARK SIGNS
At last month' s meeting, Mr. Volk was asked to report cost
estimates for signs at Country Lakes Park and at Sunrise Park.
Cost estimates for materials and hours of labor were submitted.
The signs would be constructed from cedar lumber with brown
stain and white lettering. The routing can be done with County
equipment.
In the past civic organizations have donated signs and it was
felt that these organizations may be interested in doing so
again. Mr. Volk agreed to contact the Circle-Lex Lions Club
and ask if they prefer to have a written request submitted
or a representative from the Park Board present the request .
Should a representative be preferred, Chairman Johnson volunteered
to present the request for any donations toward materials or
labor for the sign at Sunrise Park. Should donations be made,
"Donated by Circle-Lex Lions" will be printed on the sign.
MOTION: In order to construct the sign proposed for Country
Lakes Park, Mr. Ray Johnson moved to draw the necessary funds
from the VFW 1985 donations. The sign would also say "Donated
by VFW" . Mr. Nissen seconded the motion which carried unanimously.
In both cases , the Board felt that the organizations should
also receive a letter of thanks from the City upon completion
of the projects.
POLICE VANDALISM REPORTS - GATES ON SUNRISE PARK
At last month' s meeting the possibility of installing gates
at Sunrise Park to hopefully eliminate the vandalism problem
was discussed. Primarily the vandalism has been cars spinning
circles. This has been a frequent occurrence.
Mr. Volk reported that gates have been ordered for the center
and north entrances to Sunrise Park and they will be installed
in the next couple of weeks. Mr. Campbell, Lino Lakes Police
Chief agreed to make the locking and unlocking of the gates
a police responsibility. The gates will be locked and unlocked
as close as possible to closing and opening times. Should
the Police Department be responding to a police call , the
lock/unlock times may not be exactly on the hour.
CAPITAL IMPROVEMENTS PLAN
The Board hashed over the rough draft of the capital improvements
plan which Mr. Volk had distributed some time ago. The results
of the discussions appear within the rough draft attached to
these minutes. This rough draft will ap
pear ppear on next month' s
agenda to be finalized.
Mr. Volk will report at next meeting on completing 1985 capital
improvements plan. A rotivator still needs to be acquired.
