Mayor Benson stated <br /> that in Mr. Scherer' s letter of resignation there was concern <br /> shown with respect. to these aspects of service on the Park Board. <br /> PETE SCHERER' S RESIGNATION <br /> Mr. Schumacher said that in a recent conversation with Mr. Bohjanen, <br /> he said that he may have a candidate for the vacancy left by Mr. <br /> Scherer. Mr. Ray Johnson also suggested contacting Leonard Trast <br /> on Sunset Avenue and asking him if he would be interested in ser- <br /> vice to the Park Board. <br /> MOTION: Mr. Flannery moved to send a plaque of appreciation to <br /> Mr. Scherer for his many years of service to the City and on the <br /> Park Board. Motion seconded by Mr. Ray Johnson and carried unani- <br /> mously. <br /> Mr. Nissen asked if our Council liaison could become an actual <br /> member of the Park Board. No one was quite sure of the rules <br /> on this suggestion. <br /> CAPITAL IMPROVEMENTS PLAN/BUDGETS <br /> Country Lakes Park - The information requested from the Public <br /> Works Department regarding the maintenance of Country Lakes <br /> Park in 1986 was not available for this meeting. <br /> Chairman Johnson asked that Mr. Schumacher communicate the <br /> fact that this information, plus a report on the accomplishments <br /> at Country Lake Park, plus a report of the plans for preparation <br /> and opening of the park, be available in the packets for the <br /> next Park Board meeting so that boardmembers have an opportunity <br /> to review these items . <br /> Mr. Lindy suggested that before plans to construct a beach house <br /> are developed , the Park Board should evaluate the usage of the <br /> beach and see if a silting problem exists after the beach area <br /> being open through next summer. It may be an option after next <br /> summer to use the money reserved for the beach house for other <br /> development. ` I. <br /> Mr. Ray Johnson reported that he noticed some trash dumped at <br /> Country Lakes Park and that the cable across the driveway has <br /> been down for some time allowing damage by vehicles . He asked <br /> that the Public Works Department put the cable back up and clear <br /> away the trash. <br /> Budget - Mr. Schumacher referred to his memo of 9/4/85 which <br /> asks the Park Board to submit as soon as possible any anticipated <br /> r--.� major projects in 1986 along with a dollar estimate for each. <br /> He informed the Board that the increase in insurance coverage <br /> has used up the working capital for the budget and the Fire , <br /> Police and Public Works Department' s budgets are up from last <br /> year. He suggested presenting a realistic and solid budget <br />
