Park Board Meeting November 5, 1984 Page Two PARK RESERVATION POLICY Mr. Volk explained that after researching several of the northern metropolitan areas , the administrative staff put together a policy with regard to reserving the parks . Basically the policy requires a $50 deposit, refundable if the parks are maintained in good condi- tion . The main objective of the required application (application form reviewed by the Board) is to make the requestor aware of their privileges and expectations . The policy will operate on a first come - first serve basis . There were questions as to how the Hockey Association will be handled since they have used the ice rink on a long range basis in the past . Several members felt that the rink should be open to others in the community other than just to the hockey association during the winter months . It was also felt that the hockey association should be granted their reservation with the understanding that should another group request the use of the rink, the association may have to give up their privilege occasionally . Mr. Lindy moved that the staff bring any long-term reservation re- quests to the attention of the Park Board for review and approval and any short-term reservations can be approved by the staff. Mr . Ray Johnson seconded the motion . Motion carried. LAMOTTE PARK GRADING AND SEEDING This item was requested by the residents of the LaMotte area to be discussed by the Park Board. The residents promise that should the City grade and seed the LaMotte park property , they would, as a community see that it is mowed and otherwise maintained . Mr . Ray Johnson moved that the Park Department grade and seed the LaMotte park property , the cost being at the discretion of the Public Works Director. Mr . Scherer seconded the motion . Motion carried . Someone from the audience suggested that when the Park Department is ready to clean up the area , that the City send a letter to the residents requesting their assistance in cleaning brush or whatever the Public Works Director feels they can do . He felt that the citizens would be happy to volunteer their help in order to keep the area green . SUNSET OAKS PARK DEDICATION The Board received some back-up information with regard to the Sunset Oaks plat and how much land should be dedicated for park purposes . It was the general consensus of the Board that not enough information was available specifically in regard to how much money has been spent on the present park developed by Mr. Stanley and what portion of the park requirement has already been satisfied.
