City of Lino Lakes
Park Board Meeting
.- May 6, 1996
was held. Marty said we generally allow a 30' buffer between the
park and homes .
Some residents stated that they would be opposed to having
organized activities in this park. George said the Park Board
can address this at a later date and make a decision at that
time.
There were questions asked about how the money, that has been
raised, can be used. Marty said if it is going to go through the
Friends of the Park, and has been designated for playground
equipment, it can only be used for that.
George said there seems to be a lack of communication and a
misunderstanding between the residents and the Park Board and he
feels they can be easily resolved. The board does not mandate or
plan the parks the way it wants them but works with the
residents .
He then reviewed the layout of the park as he thought the
residents wanted it, talked about the trail placement, then
discussed dedicated park funds and how they are used.
George stated he would like to have a policy that the board could
follow on approved master-plans .
He said he would like to have a consensus on the placement of the
playground equipment so the Park Board could agree on the
purchase of the play structure so that it can be installed on the
agreed upon date. Chair Lindy said this would also give George
from Brauer the background to continue to formalize the plan for
the north and west area of the park, leaving the smaller lower
segment to be planned in the future as land is acquired.
MOTION-
Amy Donlin made a motion to accept the bid for the play
structure, as proposed, from Iron Mountain Forge, for $15, 000
with July 13 as the date for assembling the equipment . Pam
Taschuk seconded the motion and it was approved unanimously.
The other issue to address is, if the plan can be developed for
now and into the future if the land is acquired with the thoughts
voiced this evening, the position of the basketball court, picnic
shelters and distributing park pressures throughout the whole
area.
4
