City of Lino Lakes
Park Board Meeting
-- May 6, 1996
Joe asked if the June Pre-Park Board meeting could be at the
Birchwood/Park Grove Park area.
After further discussion George told the residents that the Park
Board meets the first Monday of every month and that they were
welcome to come to discuss any issues they might have.
RICE LAKE ESTATES PARK:
Marty gave background information on the Rice Lake Estates Park.
Marty included a copy of the Circle Pines Park Property Lease
that was reviewed and modified by the Circle Pines attorney in
the packets . The modified document was reviewed by Bill Hawkins,
Lino Lakes City Attorney, and met his approval .
He also included two letters of correspondence from Mr. Hawkins .
Bill asked for review to make sure the document includes all of
the agreed upon provision. They talked about tennis courts, basketball court,
play equipment, a picnic area, observation deck on a piece of
highland in the southern part of the park, and a tot lot area.
They mentioned possible mitigation to move the trail away from
the two lots . But they would have to wait and see the topography
on the wetlands before making a decision.
They also presented a second plan which downsized the basketball
court, re-oriented the tennis court to enlarge the play area,
seating or a picnic area adjacent to the play area, with a
wetland observation dock, trail links to the regional trail, and
a small overlook area.
Pam asked if the tot lot area was big enough. Marty said these
plans will have to be presented to the residents to see if that
5
