City of Lino Lakes <br /> Park Board Meeting <br /> May 6, 1996 <br /> He went on to say that softball has also started. Marty <br /> mentioned that Barry wrote a memo to the Park Board with <br /> statistics on the NYSCA coaches certification. The Lino Lakes <br /> Park and Recreation Department is llth in the state for <br /> certifying coaches through NYSCA. <br /> Marty continued by saying the playground program will be starting <br /> in June . Barry is having Kite Day/Playground Program kick-off <br /> day at Rice Lake School on June 1 with the first 240 kids under <br /> 12 receiving a free kite. <br /> The maintenance staff is out working in the parks, putting up <br /> soccer, volleyball, and tennis court nets . <br /> George told members to note Barry' s comment on the shortage of <br /> fields for programming and to remember that when we look to the <br /> future about a recreation complex. <br /> Marty talked about Camay Blakely' s letter which was sent to Ray <br /> Johnson and members of the Lions Club thanking them for planting <br /> the trees in the Birchwood Acres/Park Grove Park. <br /> It was suggested the Park Board Chair write a thank you letter to <br /> the Lions also. George said he and Marty will do this . <br /> FRIENDS OF THE PARK UPDATE: <br /> Betty Piper is the liaison for this organization but was not <br /> present to give an update. Marty said another golf tournament <br /> meeting would be held in two weeks and he would see at that time <br /> how the corporate sponsors were coming along. He said the <br /> committee is making alot of process on the tournament . He knew <br /> they were still selling hole and tournament sponsors . An update <br /> will be brought to the next Park Board meeting. <br /> GRANTS UPDATE- <br /> George thanked Marty for the hard work and time he spent on the <br /> grants . <br /> Athletic Complex Grant: Marty said last year he applied for a <br /> State Outdoor Recreation Grant funded by State and Federal <br /> (LAWCON) dollars . This was a land acquisition grant for the A-3 <br /> Athletic Complex on Holly and County Road J. The grant could <br /> only be used for this site . <br /> 7 <br />
