City of Lino Lakes <br /> Park Board Meeting <br /> August 4, 1997 <br /> He thanked Georgia Herrick for her work on this event, she did an <br /> outstanding job. He also thanked the other Friends members. <br /> He expressed gratitude to Target Industries for their <br /> contribution to the Friends of the Park Foundation. This funding <br /> made it possible to have a performance, at Sunrise Park, on July <br /> 27, featuring blues performers from around the metro area. <br /> Betty did not have anything to add and said she did not know how <br /> the event did financially because they have not had an <br /> opportunity' to have their wrap-up meeting. She did add that now <br /> was the time to schedule next years event . <br /> RECREATION UPDATE: <br /> Barry reported the Parks and Recreation Department enjoyed <br /> another very successful summer season. At the present time, the <br /> final end of the season report has not been completed, but the <br /> program registration numbers were very good. <br /> He said there were 13 different sessions of t-ball (up from last <br /> year) 18 golf lesson classes, (up 6 from last year) , and 48 adult <br /> softball teams. He had 2 more locations for the open playground <br /> program for a total of eight and there were over 100 kids <br /> registered for the playground party. <br /> Currently there are over 200 kids registered for the fall soccer <br /> program. <br /> The department is putting the final touches on the fall brochure <br /> and it will be in the residents homes the first week of <br /> September. <br /> Pam asked about the traveling playground program. She wanted to <br /> know what determines the location. Barry said he did not have a <br /> traveling program this year but added Sunset Oaks Park as a <br /> permanent location. He said last years attendance was a factor <br /> on site location. He said he did not know what he was going to <br /> do next year but would like to continue to put efforts in full- <br /> time sites rather than part-time. <br /> PARK UPDATE/OTHER OLD BUSINESS: <br /> Sunrise Park Irrigation System Update: Mike told the board that <br /> he and Barry were going to be meeting with Bob Rye from Toro <br /> about the irrigation system at Sunrise Park.
