`F r
CITY OF LINO LAKES
PARK BOARD MEETING
. DECEMBER 2, 1996
Marty said the projected deadline is May, 1997 .
The board talked about North Metros deficit, providing the same
service to the cities involved, the benefits of consolidating,
and the elimination of boundaries between cities .
Paul is concerned about where programs are going to scheduled.
Does not want to ignore the northern and eastern half of Lino
Lakes . Marty said this would not be done because it was against
our mission statement .
Marty will notify Joe and Sharon when the next meeting is
scheduled.
RECREATION UPDATE:
Barry was not present but did include a memo in the members
packets . Marty said staff has started flooding the skating rinks
and anticipate opening the rinks on December 23 .
Marty told the members about the Holiday Lighting Contest .
Northern States Power, Anoka Electric, and Minnegasco have
donated money or a product to give to the contest winners .
Northern States Power is also willing to work with the City to
sponsor other activities that will be taking place.
Open volleyball has started but we have been bumped from the gym
several Fridays so far this season. This does not help
attendance for this program.
There was discussion about the five on five basketball program,
aerobics, and the upcoming Breakfast with Santa/Secret Holiday
Shop program.
TRAILS UPDATE - CONTINUED:
Marty explained for several reasons the paving of trails was not
going to get completed this year. He said, however, that the
quoted price will carry over to next year.
MOTION•
George Lindy made a motion, seconded by Pam Taschuk, to complete
the bridge in Wenzel Farms as a 1996 project and defer the
dedicated funds from Wenzel Farm to trail overlaying in 1997 .
The motion was approved.
9
