City of Lino Lakes
Park Board Meeting
,. November 4, 1996
Paul Montain said we should not make plans for land we do not
own. Amy said we are trying to be pro-active in planning this
park but we should not cram everything into one area. We should
eventually get the property, and should not push everything
north.
Paul asked if the Park Board did not decide to put the ballfield
where it is so the trail would fit and wasn' t the wetlands a
factor in the placement . Sharon thought it was a good compromise
at the time it was decided to put it in the present location.
George talked about the petition process . He said the petition
has no legal bearing but can guide the board on what may or may
not be desired.
Bruce Mayer, 6351 Red Hawk Trail, said the petitions were done to
show the Park Board what the residents want in this park. He
said they did the petition process because this is what the board
told them to do. They have lived in the area for three years and
want to get things in the park now and if they wait for the
n southern piece of land it will be another 3-4 years before
development is done.
Carl Blakely, 6307 Painted Turtle Road, did not sign petitions
because he did not agree with them. He said statistics were kept
on what they wanted to keep them on. He feels the development
process was done in a open and fair way. He also feels the
master plan was a compromise from all the plans . He continued by
talking about the survey the city did.
Laurie Mazanec, 652 River Birch Place, said she has been involved
in the process since it started. She said she missed one meeting
and that was the one where the master plan was adopted. She
feels the petitions shows what people want .
George said he disagreed with her. He feels the process has been
done over several meetings and not just one . It was not a rushed
process .
Leslie Erzberger, 626 Fox Road, said many hours have been spent
discussing this park. She does not feel the petitions were
brought to the residents correctly. All residents have not heard
the pros and cons on the issues . She then read the Park and
Recreation Mission Statement and said she feels the adopted
master plan meets this statement and supports it as it stands .
3
