City of Lino Lakes Park Board Meeting November 4, 1996 The Park Board then voted in support or opposition to put the petition on the December agenda for discussion. The following is the outcome of the vote . Petition #1 (Basketball Court) George, Amy, Joe, Pam, Betty, and Sharon supported this item. Paul was opposed. PASSED Petition #2 (Hockey Rink) All members were opposed to this item. FAILED Petition #3 (Skinned Ballfield) George, Amy, Betty, Sharon, and Pam voted in support, Joe opposed. PASSED Petition #4 (Picnic Shelter) Pam, Paul, George, and Joe opposed, Betty abstained, and Sharon and Amy supported this issue . FAILED Petition #5 (Volleyball Court) All members voted in support of this issue. PASSED FORESTRY UPDATE: Marty told the board that 135 trees have been planted by Fair Nursery and they look very nice. He said he is ready to apply for Tree City Status . George asked if residents are notified when they are going to get a tree. Marty said yes they are sent letters . RECREATION UPDATE: Barry did an overhead presentation entitled Lino Lakes Parks and Recreation 1996 year in review. There were 4 divisions of his report . The first was purpose, then personnel, participation and lastly process . He then gave an overview of recreational opportunities, did a program recap for 1996, and stood for questions . Paul said the Little League does screen its coaches and wanted to know if Barry did that also. Barry said currently he does not on staff under the age of 18, but, does a criminal investigation for people over the age of 18 . He then hires on a Police Department recommendation. He said all coaches are certified through the National Youth Coaches Association. (NYCA) Joe said it was a very good report . It shows that $10, 591 profit was made from the programs and wanted to know where the money goes . Marty said it is put in a special revenue fund. Joe 5
