City of Lino Lakes <br /> Park Board Meeting <br /> n <br /> February 2, 1998 <br /> Paul amended his motion to approve the conceptual design of a <br /> trail from the school to near the Village Center is preferred, <br /> with consideration given to how to cross the ditch and how to <br /> bypass the pond. <br /> George requested research of the cost of a bridge across the <br /> creek. Kirk agreed to consult the City Engineer in this regard. <br /> Following additional discussion, the motion was changed to a <br /> recommendation that the concept of a trail continued from the <br /> school to the location of the FINA station along 35W would be <br /> preferred, with consideration given to crossing at 35W or at the <br /> new crossing. <br /> RECREATION DEPARTMENT UPDATE : <br /> Rick presented the written report of Barry Bernstein, Recreation <br /> Program Supervisor. The report highlighted the status of warming <br /> house shelters, Snack and Skate, Family Open Gym, Kids-Er-Cise, <br /> Pre Kids-Er-Cise, dance classes, the softball pitching clinic, <br /> the hockey skills development program, Baskets "Have a Ball", ski <br /> trips, aerobics and wellness programs, team co-rec volleyball, <br /> open volleyball, adult team basketball, open basketball, indoor <br /> soccer, and Tai Chi classes . <br /> Pam asked about the effect of the warm temperatures on the ice, <br /> to which Rick responded the ice is not in the best condition. <br /> George suggested that the Country Lakes rink be resurrected for <br /> next season, stating that it could be maintained through <br /> flooding, as the ice would be more predictable. <br /> PARKS DEPARTMENT UPDATE : <br /> Rick presented the written report of Mike Hoffman of Park <br /> Maintenance, which indicated that plowing streets and trails as <br /> well as maintaining rinks has kept the Department busy. <br /> Additionally, Mike reported that the snow blower attachment for <br /> the Case Skid Loader has been extremely helpful and efficient. <br /> Rick added that Caroline Dahl has been appointed City Council <br /> Liaison to the Park Board, and that she would be attending as <br /> many Board meetings as possible. <br /> The Spring Brochure is scheduled for distribution the first week <br /> in March, and Rick requested any input as soon as possible. <br /> Rick added that Mike is continuing to work on a trails inventory <br /> as well as obtaining seal coating cost estimates for existing <br /> trails . <br /> 3 <br />
