City of Lino Lakes <br /> Park Board Meeting <br /> February 2 , 1998 <br /> Paul asked about the plowing of existing trails, indicating that <br /> he had been apprised of a poorly-maintained portion of trail in <br /> the Quail Ridge area. Rick indicated that he is in the process <br /> of reorganizing the Maintenance Department with an eye toward <br /> designating one full-time employee for the purpose of evaluating <br /> existing trails on a weekly basis and attending to any trail <br /> maintenance needs . <br /> Paul asked for an approximate number of miles of existing trails <br /> in the Lino Lakes area, to which Rick responded Mike has <br /> estimated seven miles . <br /> TRAILS COMMITTEE UPDATE : <br /> Rick explained that this group met on Tuesday, January 27, at <br /> which time recommended proposed trail segments for completion in <br /> 1998 were discussed, as well as potential trail segments for the <br /> upcoming bond referendum. He suggested that these items, as well <br /> as the status of the parks and trails map, will be discussed as <br /> separate items on this agenda. <br /> FRIENDS OF THE PARK UPDATE : <br /> Rick presented the written report of Barry Bernstein, Recreation <br /> Program Supervisor, highlighting reference to improvement of park <br /> signs and the upcoming Foundation golf tournament. He explained <br /> that the new park signs will be constructed of a new colored <br /> plastic material which is virtually vandal-proof. With respect <br /> to the golf tournament, a date has yet to be determined for some <br /> time in June or July. <br /> REVIEW DRAFT OF PARKS TRAIL MAP: <br /> Rick pointed out that the most recent draft of this map is <br /> located on the wall of the meeting room for Board perusal, and <br /> that he would be meeting with SEH on the proposed final plans . <br /> The present version is intended primarily for use as a planning <br /> tool . <br /> George asked if this map contains just existing trails . Rick <br /> responded that the current map contains only existing trails, but <br /> that consideration is being given to including proposed trails on <br /> the final version. <br /> George suggested that the Board members view the map following <br /> the meeting. <br /> 1998 TRAIL PROJECTS: <br /> Rick explained that City Engineer Dave Ahrens has asked the Parks <br /> and Recreation Department to submit its 1998 trail paving <br /> schedule. He reminded the group that $15, 000 has been designated <br /> from the general fund for use on trail projects, and suggested <br /> 4 <br />
