City of Lino Lakes
Park Board Meeting
January 5, 1998
park. George pointed out that the school district had a master
plan including a soccer program, and that the district should be
contacted with respect to the status of its plans prior to the
City taking steps to make land improvements . Rick indicated that
he would investigate this matter. Paul pointed out that a
minimum amount of work would be required to make the subject area
usable for soccer activities . Barry stated that he had spoken
with the soccer field coordinator, and that although it has been
determined that Centennial Middle School will accommodate much of
the current need, the additional area would be useful for soccer.
George asked to what extent development of the subject area would
be advisable . Paul pointed out that a good portion of that
ground is rolling in nature, but that approximately two acres
could be modified into an informal soccer field at minimal
expense to the City. Barry added that parking would have to be
considered.
Paul reminded the group that Pheasant Hills is in need of this
service, and that use of the school district land should be
pursued. Barry added that a neighborhood park in that area would
be an attractive feature. George agreed, suggesting that a trail
system connecting to a more active park area would be desirable.
George suggested that, subject to change based upon additional
information, the goal priorities would be (1) Country Lakes Park
master plan and (2) further contact with the school district
regarding Pheasant Hills . This item will be discussed at the
Board' s next meeting, and a formal request to Council will then
be formulated.
1998 Park Board Meeting Schedule:
Sharon asked if the meeting scheduled for August 31 in lieu of
September 1 (which is a holiday) should be published for public
notification purposes . Sandie explained that the meeting date
will be posted at City Hall, and will also appear on Cable
television. George suggested that the customary procedure should
be appropriate . The 1998 schedule is as follows :
January 5, February 2, March 2, April 6, May 4, June 1, July 6,
August 3, August 31, October 5, November 2, and December 7 .
NEW BUSINESS:
Quail Ridge:
Rick provided proposed correspondence for forwarding to residents
,- of the Quail Ridge development inviting them to attend a
neighborhood meeting at the Centennial Fire Station at 7741 Lake
Drive, at 7 : 30 p.m. on Thursday, January 29, 1998 .
