City of Lino Lakes <br /> Park Board Meeting <br /> November 2, 1998 <br /> Chair Lindy asked Rick to research the cost of a bridge . <br /> Pat Huelman made a motion, seconded by Sharon Lane, to approve <br /> the agreement as outlined with the exception of not being locked <br /> into a specific date . When the agreement is accepted, the cost <br /> will be researched and Rick will bring the information back to <br /> the Board. The motion was approved unanimously. <br /> RECREATION DEPARTMENT UPDATE: <br /> Ms . Liz Bursack, part-time programmer, introduced herself to the <br /> Board. She reviewed the Fall Program Highlights brochure . She <br /> noted that the Breakfast with Santa, scheduled for December 12 , <br /> 1998, was filled as of October 21, 1998, and a waiting list was <br /> started. The soccer season concluded on Saturday, October 31, <br /> 1998 . <br /> Liz noted a new program, Toss, Kick and Catch, a parent/child <br /> preschool program designed to teach basic sport fundamentals will <br /> begin in this winter season. The 3 vs . 3-basketball program is <br /> the largest it has ever been with 14 teams registered. <br /> Registration for the 5 vs . 5-basketball program is in progress . <br /> Liz added that the Department is currently accepting applications <br /> and conducting interviews for the upcoming warminghouse season. <br /> It is anticipated to have all employees in place by Thanksgiving. <br /> Turkey Shoot - Liz stated that the First Annual Turkey Shoot will <br /> be held November 14 , 1998, 10 : 00am to 11 : 30 am, at the Centennial <br /> Middle School . The Turkey Shoot is a low-key competition for <br /> families which includes events such as a football toss, Frisbee <br /> toss, and bean bag toss . Prizes are awarded and everyone is <br /> entered into a random drawing for additional prizes . <br /> Refreshments will be available . Liz stated she is looking for <br /> volunteers to help run the event . <br /> PARKS DEPARTMENT UPDATE: <br /> Rick referred to a memo from Mike Hoffman, Lead Worker. He <br /> stated that playground site preparation and installation has been <br /> priority #1 during the month of October. The Lino Park <br /> playground was installed on Saturday, October 3 , 1998 . <br /> Maintenance staff also poured players bench and bleacher pads at <br /> the ballfield and installed new aluminum player benches . <br /> Rick stated the playground install for Rice Lake Estates had to <br /> be postponed due to a fire at the playground manufacturing plant . <br /> Installation was anticipated to occur on October 24 , 1998 , but <br /> the equipment was not received. The equipment should arrive in <br /> the next day or two and staff will install it with a professional <br /> 3 <br />
