City of Lino Lakes
Park Board Meeting
October 5, 1998
weeks . Mr. Simons who lives adjacent to this trail is requesting
that the City install a fence along his property line . Mr.
Simons has indicated that he has experienced numerous people
trespassing on his property and feels that this is a direct
result of the City installing this trail segment .
Rick stated it is his recommendation to install a fence along the
property line . Since this new trail wasn' t in the plat when this
area was developed, the City should address the privacy concerns
with the existing homes .
Rick indicated the City should also address safety concerns along
the eastern edge of the trail . There is a relatively deep
drainage pond that is a safety concern if a bicyclist or inline
skater should leave the trail .
Mr. Simons came forward and stated that he had bought the house 9
years ago. At that time the house had privacy on both sides . He
stated he did not see the plans for the trail . He indicated he
should have asked for more from the developer on the back of the
property.
Chair Lindy asked what type of fence Mr. Simons is requesting.
Mr. Simons stated he will work with the Park Board. He would
like more privacy, less traffic, and less people aggravating his
dog.
Paul stated he does not see a problem with accommodating Mr.
Simons .
After a discussion regarding what type of fence, Rick stated a
150-175 foot fence would be needed. He stated the cost for a
cyclone fence will be approximately $1, 200 . A wood fence will be
approximately three times that cost .
Joe suggested a wood fence along the side and a cyclone fence in
the back.
Chair Lindy stated the fence needs to look the same all the way
around to avoid a patchwork look.
Paul Montain made a motion, seconded by Joe Schmidt, that a fence
is necessary and directed Rick to work with the homeowner and
necessary staff to take care of this issue to the homeowners
satisfaction. The motion carried unanimously.
3
