City of Lino Lakes <br /> Park Board Meeting <br /> October 5, 1998 <br /> Mr. Simons noted that signs for a crossing from the path into the <br /> park should be put in. Rick stated the sign issue is being <br /> addressed. <br /> ENVIRONMENTAL INVENTORY AND MANAGEMENT PLAN FOCUS GROUP: <br /> Rick referred to a memo from Jeff Schoenbauer regarding <br /> Environmental Planning Project meetings . He noted the Thursday, <br /> October 29 , and Friday, October 30 , 1998 meetings . He asked that <br /> anyone from the Park Board that is available, attend these <br /> meetings . He stated he will send out a memo with more details <br /> regarding that meeting. <br /> RECREATION DEPARTMENT UPDATE: <br /> Rick reviewed the Fall Program Highlights noting that this year <br /> the Recreation Department has over 475 participants on 36 teams <br /> for youth fall soccer. He stated that Adult 3-player basketball <br /> is up 5 teams from last fall for a total of 13 teams . He noted <br /> the teen programs for the fall and stated they are working with <br /> the Centennial School District to promote the programs . The <br /> First Annual Family Turkey Shoot will be held on November 14, <br /> 1998 , at Centennial Middle School . It is a free event consisting <br /> of low-key competition in a variety of athletic events . <br /> Joe asked if the Recreation Department has every tried to have a <br /> second breakfast with Santa. Rick stated that the Seniors <br /> prepare the food this event and he is unsure if they are willing <br /> to do it twice . He stated he will check to see if a second <br /> breakfast can be held. <br /> Sandie noted that this event is already almost filled. She <br /> stated that the past two years they have had a secret holiday <br /> shop right after the breakfast so it was not possible to have two <br /> on the same day. <br /> Sharon asked if the new City Hall will have more room to allow <br /> more participants . Rick stated there will be a community room <br /> but it will not have cooking facilities . He stated they have <br /> looked into holding the breakfast at the middle school . <br /> Pam asked Rick to elaborate on the Turkey Shoot . Rick explained <br /> it is a low-key competition for families which includes events <br /> such as football toss, Frisbee toss, and bean bag toss . Prizes <br /> are awarded and everyone is entered into a random drawing. <br /> Refreshments will be available . <br /> 4 <br />
