City of Lino Lakes <br /> Park Board Meeting <br /> July 6, 1998 <br /> is in close proximity to the proposed location for the playground <br /> area. Adequate screening will be needed for that resident . <br /> Jeff expressed concern regarding balls being hit into the play <br /> area. <br /> Paul suggested the ball field be used for a T-ball field or coach <br /> pitch field because of the size of the field. <br /> Chair Lindy gave direction from the Board of agreement of Concept <br /> 1 regarding Shenandoah Park Equipment location. <br /> RECREATION DEPARTMENT UPDATE : <br /> Rick noted the Summer Program Highlights flyer. He stated that <br /> almost 200 kites were passed out in 20 minutes on Kite Day. He <br /> stated that T-ball has started and over 300 people are <br /> participating in this program. He also noted the Soccer <br /> "Fun"damentals program, in which 47 youth participated in. <br /> Rick announced that the Friends of the Parks Foundation is in the <br /> process of receiving a donation of $1, 000 from Target Industries . <br /> Rick explained that the Open Playground Program served an <br /> estimated 480 youth the first week at seven open playground <br /> locations : Sunrise Park, Inner Park, Sunset Oaks Park, Lino <br /> Park, Birch Park, Birchwood Acres Park, and Country Lakes Park. <br /> Rick noted that the Performance in the Parks program has started <br /> and is well attended by residents . There are 3 performances <br /> left. The performances are on Sundays, at 6: 00pm at Sunrise <br /> Park. <br /> PARKS DEPARTMENT UPDATE : <br /> Rick referred to a memo from Mike Hoffman, Lead Worker. He <br /> stated that the seasonal crew has done a good job keeping the <br /> park areas mowed on a weekly basis . Currently, the crew mows 17 <br /> parks, the Police and Fire buildings, City Hall, City water <br /> towers and well houses (4) , and a number of boulevard and trail <br /> segments . This amounts to approximately 100-125 acres of mowing <br /> which the crew tries to complete weekly. <br /> He stated that projects for June included completion of the <br /> playground at Sunrise Park, (the surrounding area will be seeded <br /> in mid to late August, 1998) storm cleanup, planting trees around <br /> new playgrounds to replace trees that were lost in the storm, <br /> removal of damaged roof to shelter #2 at Sunrise Park, obtaining <br /> estimates for roof repair to Sunrise warming house, and <br /> fertilizing all our irrigated turf areas . <br /> 11 <br />
