City of Lino Lakes
Park Board Meeting
July 6, 1998
n
Rick noted that Sunset Oaks Park was vandalized over the June 20-
21, 1998, weekend. Graffiti was placed on the play structure,
picnic table, and outhouse. This equipment has been cleaned and
is back to its original condition.
Pam asked if the City has determined who is responsible for the
vandalism. Rick indicated that children in the area have given
the Police the name of a girl that possibly is responsible.
Paul asked how many acres are mowed just within the 17 parks .
Rick stated that he is researching the exact acreage that makes
up the parks within the City of Lino Lakes . He stated he will
share that information when he receives it.
OLD BUSINESS:
None
NEW BUSINESS:
Resignation of Tim Anderson - Park Maintenance Worker - Rick
explained that Mr. Tim Anderson, General Park Maintenance worker,
has resigned effective June 9, 1998 . Mr. Anderson was offered an
attractive salary increase and change of job duties from his
previous employer. Mr. Anderson felt it was a tremendous
opportunity for him and accepted the new position for the Ramsey
County Parks and Recreation Department.
Hiring of Steve Gilbertson - Park Maintenance Worker - Rick
explained that Mr. Steve Gilbertson was involved in the
application process last month for the General Park Maintenance
worker. Mr. Gilbertson was rated very well by both interview
panels and on his written test. Mr. Gilbertson has been an
employee of the Parks and Recreation Department since August of
1994, primarily in the Park Maintenance Division. He has a
variety of experience including athletic field maintenance,
masonry, playground assembly, fence repair, irrigation repair,
and has operated various equipment in a dependable fashion.
Prior to Mr. Gilbertson' s employment with the City of Lino Lakes
he was involved in landscaping and lawn maintenance since 1985.
Park Board Information Notebooks - Rick stated that Ms . Wood has
compiled a 3 ring binder of important and relevant information
for all Park Board members . Information such as the Park Board
Calendar, Park Board Goals, Park Dedication Funds, Ordinances,
Park Grid, Master Plans of All Park Areas, and Park Board
Information is included. Hopefully this will help the Board to
centralize all the information regarding the Park Board meetings .
12
