City of Lino Lakes
Park Board Meeting
July 6, 1998
Paul stated that if residents are opposed the City has the option
to not renew the lease. He noted the City Attorney should
address the problem of the track becoming a regional attraction.
REVIEW OF 5 YEAR CAPITAL IMPROVEMENT PROGRAM:
Rick stated that the City has begun the 1999 budget process . He
indicated he is in the process of compiling the 5 Year CIP. He
requested input from the Park Board regarding the prioritization
of park improvements . The purpose of this is to request a
realistic amount of funding from the General Fund to continue
general park improvements . He stated that he anticipates
limiting each annual General Fund request to $50, 000 .
Rick referred to a draft of itemized list of neighborhood park
improvements. He asked the Board members to indicate their
priorities for the years 1999, 2000, and beyond while keeping in
mind an approximate $50, 000 total request per year. He asked the
Board to submit their responses to the Parks and Recreation
Department by Thursday, July 9, 1998, at 1 : 00 p.m.
Chair Lindy asked if Rick believes the funds will be allocated.
Rick stated that the parks in Lino Lakes need to be worked on.
He explained that he came up with a reasonable amount of money
for a starting point.
Paul noted that this is in line with the 5 Year plan the Charter
Commission has asked for.
Chair Lindy stated that $50, 000 could be spread over many parks
and not make much of a dent. If the money were allocated for 1-2
parks per year there would be a significant change. He stated
that the Board needs to make the City Council see this could make
a huge change in the parks in Lino Lakes .
Sharon said it is a good time to ask for the funds because the
City has received much gratitude from residents regarding the new
park additions .
Rick noted this will be updated on a yearly basis . This is only
a starting point.
Pat stated that Country Lakes Park should be a priority.
Sharon stated that safety issues should be a priority.
REVIEW DEVELOPMENT PLAN OF RICE LAKE ESTATES PARK:
Rick stated that the trail leading to Baldwin Park will be
constructed August, 1998 . The estimated cost of completion for
this trail is $17, 000 .
7
