City of Lino Lakes
Park Board Meeting
July 6, 1998
n
Rick explained that there is currently $42, 700 in the Park
Dedication Fund designated for this park. He indicated he is in
the process of selling two lots on Sandhill Drive. He stated
that he estimates to obtain approximately $20, 000 for the
property. He recommended any revenues generated from the sale of
the two lots be earmarked for Rice Lake Estates Park.
Rick explained that on June 8, 1998, he sent out a memo to area
residents . He referred to a summary of the thirty
responses . Will the construction of the trail, there will be
approximately $25, 700 remaining in the Park Dedication Fund. He
indicated he would like to proceed with further development of
this park this year.
Rick stated that the neighborhood has been patiently waiting for
quite a few years, therefore, he would prefer not to delay
further development of this park another year. The estimated
cost for clearing the site will be approximately $5, 000 .
Chair Lindy stated that playground equipment had the most
responses for both high and low priority. He noted the comments
regarding children in that area are no longer toddlers .
Paul suggested they do a high and medium priority. Next year
develop the trail and amenities.
Rick stated that a 1/2 basketball court will be expensive because
it is a lone job.
Chair Lindy stated that when the final grade is done anything can
be put in. Anything done this year will have to be hired out.
Rick stated that it makes sense economically to do the tennis
court and 1/2 basketball court at the same time. Because of the
time factor it is easier to do the playground equipment this year
and finish the rest of the park next year. He stated that the
playground equipment will be for the 5-12 year age group.
Pam asked if a bench could also be put in this year.
Pat stated that the teenage element needs to be served. The 1/2
basketball court should be put in this year.
Rick stated that a tennis court is a big ticket item. If that
will not be put in soon it makes sense to do the 1/2 basketball
court and playground equipment now. They will need $10, 000 from
Park Dedication funds to accomplish this . The money could then
be replaced from the sale of the lots .
8
