City of Lino Lakes
Park Board Meeting
June 1 , 1998
Rick explained there currently is a trail along the southern
border of Fox Trace. An extension of this trail across Hodgson
Road would logically be located along the southern border of the
Collova Addition to White Pine Road. Perhaps a trail could be
indicated in the existing utility easement as shown on the
preliminary plat . There would not be any connection to Hodgson
Road until the lots east of the Collova Addition are replatted.
Rick stated that if a trail along the utility easement is
desired, the drainage pond would need to be moved northward.
Rick indicated that the only possibility of a trail would be
through Lot #1 which is very close to the property line and there
would be a wetland issue. Lots #1 and #2 would have to be
replatted as well as Linda Avenue. Rick stated he did not see
the need for an additional trail .
Acting Chair Schmidt asked if the home on Lot #1 will be
demolished. Rick indicated that all existing homes will be
removed.
Sharon Lane made a motion, seconded by Jeff Reinert, to recommend
cash dedication in lieu of park land. Acting Chair Schmidt asked
for more discussion.
Acting Chair Schmidt stated not developing another trail in the
Baldwin Lake Area would be a mistake. He stated that the area
does not have enough parks . In the past a mini-park, lake
access, and a trail around Baldwin Lake connecting with Rice Lake
Park had all been considered and nothing had yet been developed.
He expressed concern regarding children riding their bikes across
Hodgson Road if there is not a trail access to the parks .
Paul stated that he agreed with Acting Chair Schmidt. He
believes that in that area there are not enough parks or trails .
He noted that pedestrian traffic in that area is heavy.
Rick noted that the Comprehensive Plan does not call for another
trail in this area.
After a brief discussion regarding various trail possibilities,
Paul stated that he believes there is a need for a park in the
south/west corner of the Baldwin Lake Area. He said that
pedestrian traffic is currently a problem and will continue to be
even if a park is developed. He stated that there is not enough
park land for smaller children in this area.
n
3
