City of Lino Lakes <br /> Park Board Meeting <br /> June 1, 1998 <br /> Department is recruiting and assigning volunteers to residents <br /> that are in need of assistance. <br /> Rick showed pictures of the above damage to the Parks and <br /> Recreation Board. <br /> Sharon asked if the City' s insurance would cover the damage done <br /> to any buildings . Rick stated insurance would cover the building <br /> damage and damage to the roof. General liability coverage does <br /> not cover any damage done to the fencing and trees . <br /> Paul asked if the damaged Oak trees could be sold for oak veneer. <br /> Rick indicated there had been no discussion regarding selling the <br /> damaged trees for oak veneer. Paul stated that selling the <br /> damaged trees could be a consideration for the future. <br /> Rick noted that oak wilt could possibly be a problem in the <br /> future. <br /> Sharon asked how long it would be before the City knew if oak <br /> wilt was going to be a problem. Rick indicated that detecting <br /> the problem of oak wilt could be very soon or take some time. He <br /> stated that the damaged trees were sealed when they were pruned. <br /> The Parks and Recreation Department will be watching very <br /> closely. <br /> Rick stated that the final clean up will be on June 8, 1998 . <br /> RECOGNITION OF DONATIONS TO PARKS AND RECREATION DEPARTMENT: <br /> Circle-Lex. Lions - Coaches Training - Rick announced that the <br /> Circle-Lex. Lions Club donated $1, 000 to continue their support <br /> of the National Youth Sports Coaches Association. <br /> The Circle-Lex. Lions Club has continually supported the youth <br /> sport coaching certification program over the past several years . <br /> The Lino Lakes Parks and Recreation Department certifies <br /> approximately 200 coaches per year. Coach' s clinics are held <br /> for Centennial Little League, Centennial Baseball, Lino Lakes <br /> program coaches, and other organizations that wish to have their <br /> coaches certified. <br /> Rick thanked the Circle-Lex. Lions Club for their continued <br /> support. <br /> VFW - Playground Equipment - Rick stated that the Lino Lakes VFW <br /> has been a tremendous supporter to the Parks and Recreation <br /> 5 <br />
