City of Lino Lakes <br /> Park Board Meeting <br /> June 1, 1998 <br /> Department. The VFW has contributed almost $16, 000 since 1994 . <br /> The VFW currently contributes $300 per month for playground <br /> equipment in Lino Lakes neighborhood parks. <br /> Rick thanked the Lino Lakes VFW for their continued support . <br /> Acting Chair Schmidt asked if the contributions were in addition <br /> to the current Parks and Recreation funds . Rick stated that the <br /> contributions go directly into the Park Dedication Fund. <br /> Paul expressed additional thanks to the Circle - Lex. Lions Club <br /> and the Lino Lakes VFW for their contributions and continued <br /> support. <br /> REVIEW OF NEW PLAYGROUND EQUIPMENT SCHEDULE : <br /> Rick reviewed the dates and times the playground equipment <br /> proposals will be on display at the Parks and Recreation <br /> Department, 7204 Lake Drive. <br /> Rick invited the members of the Park Board and neighborhood <br /> residents . Rick indicated that the Parks and Recreation <br /> Department is attempting to recruit volunteers to help install <br /> the new playground structures . He stated the Parks and <br /> Recreation Department has had p good response from the Birch Park <br /> area but are still in need of more assistance in the Shenandoah <br /> and Lino Park areas . <br /> Rick stated he is anticipating the City Council to award the bids <br /> at the June 22, 1998, Council meeting. Installation of the new <br /> playground equipment will take place sometime between August, <br /> 1998, and October, 1998 . <br /> Rick noted that a copy of the letter listing the playground <br /> equipment proposals and asking for volunteers for installation is <br /> attached to the Park Board' s packet. <br /> Paul asked how many playground equipment bids are expected. Rick <br /> indicated he had sent out five bid requests to local vendors . <br /> Acting Chair Schmidt asked about continuing with similar <br /> playground equipment in all of the parks . Rick stated that the <br /> playground equipment would be chosen by the vendor that offers <br /> the best package. The best package is determined by an <br /> evaluation of quality, durability, safety, equipment longevity, <br /> aesthetic appeal, and the play experience provided. <br /> Acting Chair Schmidt expressed concern regarding quality, safety, <br /> n and warranty.
