City of Lino Lakes
Park Board Meeting
July 6, 1999
n
Ms. Roland stated some residents in the area want to keep it a
green area because they exercise their dogs there. Any concerns
regarding teenage problems are not warranted.
Chair Lindy stated there is the issue of park duplication in
Centerville. The playground being developed there is only five
houses down the road. He asked if a play structure is going to
be installed.
Ms. Roland stated the City of Centerville has indicated a play
structure will be installed sometime in the future.
Rick added that Centerville has applied for a grant relating to
the installation of playground equipment at the park. A play
structure will be a lower priority if the grant is not received.
Chair Lindy stated that initially it was proposed that the land
be sold because it was not being used. Residents at that time
indicated they were in favor of an informal ball field and having
trees planted.
Ms . Roland stated the residents are in favor of trees being
planted that would face LaMotte Circle. Leaving the area a
green area is not the general feeling of the residents at this
time . There are many children in the area and the number of
children is growing.
Chair Lindy asked if the adjoining property owner right next to
the park signed the petition.
Ms . Roland advised the two closest property owners did sign the
petition.
Paul stated that duplication to the park in Centerville is an
issue. He asked what amenities the neighborhood would like to
see in LaMotte Park.
Ms. Roland stated the residents are in favor of a swing set,
slide, climbing equipment, benches, and a picnic table. The play
equipment should be geared towards younger children.
Jeff stated that before anything is done, the City should get
together with the City of Centerville to determine what they are
developing.
3
