City of Lino Lakes
Park Board Meeting
May 3, 1999
Rick stated it was the consensus of the residents not to consider
selling park land in exchange for the development of the park
this year.
Chair Lindy stated that it seemed that most people want the park.
The two families most affected by the development were very
vocal . If there is some way to resolve the issues of the two
property owners maybe the development can proceed.
Jeff suggested a letter be sent to the residents stating that
most of the people present at the meeting were opposed to the
development .
Mr. Gary Uhde, Developer for the project, came forward and stated
he and City staff have spent a lot of time on this . He indicated
it was too bad that more residents who are in favor of the
project were not present for the meeting. He asked that the
discussion remain open.
Mr. Uhde continued stating there are two options available to
continue with the development . The first is to take the "tooth"
out of the plan. Mr. Jeff Schoenbauer, Brauer and Associates,
was opposed to that option. The second option is to visit with
the two homeowners and determine what it will take to change
their opinion on the project . Mr. Uhde stated he willing to work
with the Park Board and City staff to move forward with the
project .
Mr. John Johnson, Engineer for Behm' s Century Farm, suggested the
possibility of doing an interim status report to be sent to the
City Council and residents . He stated that he believes the
residents who are in favor of the project did not attend the
meeting because they thought the project would move forward. He
encouraged the Park Board to keep the discussion open.
Rick stated the City needs to provide the Council and area
residents an update regarding what will be done, if anything.
The issue can be discussed again at the June, 1999, Park meeting.
Chair Lindy directed staff to put this issue on the June Park
Board meeting agenda. He asked Mr. Uhde to have a discussion
with the two property owners to obtain a resolution. The Park
Board will look at the issue again if the neighborhood wants to
pursue the project .
Pat noted that if the residents want a ballfield he would not be
able to support this project .
2
