City of Lino Lakes Park Board Meeting May 3, 1999 ./1 Chair Lindy added that an extra Park Board meeting may be necessary if the issues with residents are resolved. Chair Lindy also stated that there are two issues involved relating to this project . The first is the concerns of the two property owners that are heavily impacted. The second issue is the expectation that the park should be developed if possible. Chris stated the pros and cons of developing the park need to be considered. It is possible that the park may benefit over 200 residents while only two families are in opposition to the project . Paul stated the City has never sold park property before. He asked if the City will be setting a precedent . Rick stated selling property along Mustang Lane and Palomino Lane is legal . This situation is very unique . He stated he is not in favor of selling park property overall . However, the park may not be developed for many, many years which is very frustrating. It was the consensus of the Park Board that if the developer can get resolution with the two most affected property owners, the project can be pursued if a greater consensus of the neighborhood is in favor of the project . The issue will be a June, 1999, agenda item. An extra Park Board meeting may be held if a resolution is found. CONSIDER DESIGNATING PARK DEDICATION FUNDS FOR SUNRISE PARK IMPROVEMENTS• Rick stated the Parks and Recreation Department has been working with the Centennial Lakes Little League Association (CLLLA) to improve the two little league fields at Sunrise Park. Rick reviewed the improvements that have been made noting the Park Maintenance staff has put forth a tremendous effort including removal of the fencing and players benches and pouring new concrete pads for the bench areas . Rick requested the Park Board consider designating $5, 000 of park dedication funds to offset the expenses incurred for upgrading fields #3 and #4 at Sunrise Park. This would cover the costs of the players benches, cement, additional ag-lime, and sod. Chair Lindy stated the City needs to upgrade and take care of the ball fields . 3
