City of Lino Lakes
Park Board Meeting
March 1, 1999
Mr. Johnson distributed a sketch of the concept plan and reviewed
it . He stated they will be moving into the 6th Addition next
year.
Paul indicated he was in favor of the plan. He expressed concern
regarding medium density resulting in a smaller play area. Mr.
Johnson stated he brought the plan forward to hear the Board' s
comments . He is meeting with the neighborhood later this week
and the Planning and Zoning Board next week.
Chair Lindy stated the Park Board has to look at striking a new
balance between open space, passive parks, trails, and parks that
are programmed for activities . It is a whole new philosophy to
accept .
Pat expressed concern regarding the lack of connecting trails
running north/south. Mr. Johnson stated they are working the
trails to link the additions and park area. They are hoping to
develop the park so it can be used by residents this summer. He
added that the preliminary sketches show that a youth ball field
can work in this park. He noted the master plan will have to be
modified if there is development along Mustang Lane .
Rick stated the plan reflects a logical trail system in the 5th
Addition. He stated the plan will go before the Planning and
Zoning Board next week. Staff will continue to discuss the 6th
Addition.
Paul stated there are trailways behind lots #1-5 . He asked if
the potential buyers will be aware of the trail . Mr. Johnson
stated trail placements must be shown when people buy the lots .
He stated there is a balancing act on the lot width and trail
corridor.
Pat stated a better trail connection to the north would be
desirable .
Chair Lindy stated park needs should be reevaluated in an area
that has lots of greenway space .
DISCUSSION OF PRELIMINARY PLAT - CLEARWATER CREEK 3RD ADDITION:
Mr. Jeff Smyser, City Planner, presented the Clearwater Creek 3rd
Addition. He stated the proposed park area has been enlarged to
5 . 5 acres . The proposed trail corridor areas equals 2 . 9 acres
for a total park dedication of 8 . 4 acres .
3
