City of Lino Lakes <br /> Park Board Meeting <br /> December 7, 1998 <br /> September 7, 1999, as regular Park Board meetings . The motion <br /> passed. <br /> RECREATION DEPARTMENT UPDATE: <br /> Rick reviewed the Program Highlights memo. He noted that over <br /> 100 children participated in the Family Turkey Shoot . He gave a <br /> special thanks to the Lino Lakes Lions, the Circle-Lex Lions, the <br /> Circle-Lex VFW Post #6583 , and the Forest Lake Area Athletic <br /> Association for their financial support . He also thanked the <br /> volunteers who helped with the event . <br /> Rick stated the Holiday Lighting Contest is back once again. <br /> Donations have come from Circle Pines Utilities, Connexus Energy, <br /> Minnegasco, and NSP. Judging will take place December 16 and 17, <br /> 1999 . Awards will be given to first, second, and third place <br /> winners . <br /> Rick stated that a variety of "Wild Away for a Day Trips" are <br /> planned for this winter season that include : New Years Eve 1998, <br /> Ski trips, Winter Discover, and Be My Valentine . <br /> n Rick noted the new programs that will begin this winter are the <br /> Toss, Kick and Catch, Saturday Night Skate, Intro to Figure <br /> Skating, and Precision/Dance Line . <br /> Rick said the Parks and Recreation Department experienced <br /> problems similar to other businesses this fall looking for <br /> seasonal part-time staff . Although there were not a large number <br /> of applicants, those that applied seemed very competent . Weather <br /> permitting the warming houses are anticipated to open December <br /> 20 , 1998 . <br /> Rick noted the winter brochures were sent to residents last week. <br /> Pam stated she received great feedback regarding children <br /> enjoying the Family Turkey Shoot . <br /> PARKS DEPARTMENT UPDATE: <br /> Rick referred to a memo from Mike Hoffman, Lead Worker. The <br /> maintenance highlights for November included cleanup, servicing, <br /> and storage of summer maintenance equipment . The preparation of <br /> hockey and pleasure rinks for flooding has begun. Oak wilt <br /> control work was conducted at Sunrise and Woods of Baldwin Parks <br /> as well as 8 residential properties . Tree spading of over 100 <br /> .01-N donated shade and evergreen trees was completed. The viewing <br /> deck at Pheasant Hills Park was also completed. A fence was <br /> 2 <br />
