The Council voted to approve
all of those items, they were:
Recreation Agreement with Centennial School. This is an
agreement between Centennial School District and The City of Lino
Lakes concerning the joint use, improvement and construction of
certain facilities located upon the elementary school property of
the soon to be constructed Birch Lake Elementary School.
Agreement with Centennial School District concerning
recreation programming and use of the Centennial School facilities
for the Lino Lakes Parks and Recreation program.
Marty reports that these two agreements with the school district
are unique in that there are very few of them around where both a
school district and a city recreation department have entered into
a written agreement to share facilities. He feels that we are
somewhat of a precedent and these agreements will probably be used
by other cities as guidelines in the future.
Comprehensive Park Plan. The funding for this park plan study
was approved by the council. There will be five steps to the plan,
with caps set on each. The total amount will be $32, 000.00. Marty's
feeling is that the final cost could probably be lower, as City
staff is doing a good deal of the work. The study could be
completed in a few months. Marty mentioned that Brauer &
Associates, and the City are working together to cut costs in
several different ways. George Lindy commented how important this
study is, and how it could have been used earlier this evening
during the Ron Birch development discussion.
Recreation Update - Marty Asleson reported that the Recreation
Department summer programs are being very well received. Response
to the T-Ball programs has been overwhelming. There is also an 8
Page 4
