Council and several "lay people" and maybe 1 or 2 from youth <br />leagues. Marty says he will be gathering names and trying to <br />get people committed, he anticipates at least a couple of <br />meetings per month. Don Volk will put a list together for <br />Council approval to be presented at the next council <br />meeting. Don says the first step for the committee will be to <br />draft an outline including items they want to see in the plan <br />and include the dollar amounts. <br />Other Old Business - John Baumann wanted to remind the Board <br />about Arbor Day and Earth Day. Held at City Hall again this <br />year, this will be a 5 community event including Centerville, <br />Lino Lakes, Circle Pines, Lexington and Blaine to be held <br />around the end of April. Also there will be a ceremony at <br />school the week before. John asked for help from anyone who <br />might be available. <br />The current status of Inside Sports was discussed, and Ken <br />Johnson wanted to know where we are at with the Park <br />Dedication with them. Don Volk explained that there is not a <br />concept plan yet. He did note however, that it will be <br />written up in the developer's agreement that the City of Lino <br />Lakes will be given 15 hours a week for the use of the dome. <br />Don also noted that because this is a business, we have to <br />accept whatever times Inside Sports are willing to give us. <br />NEW BUSINESS• <br />Recreation Program Position - Marty Asleson informed the <br />board that the City will be advertising for a full time <br />professional person with a degree in Parks and Recreation. <br />Bill Nissen questioned whether a full time position is really <br />required, rather than part time. Marty explained that <br />recreation coordinating and planning requires a lot of time, <br />and that there is a definite need for a full time employee <br />now. Bill also questioned if this is a salaried position and <br />what regular hours would be. Will this Recreation Programmer <br />be available on the week -ends when various events are taking <br />place? Marty noted that the times the recreation coordinator <br />is available will coincide with the programs he has put into <br />place. Don Volk explained that the matter of salary was <br />handled during the Council budget process, and he was <br />directed by the Council to go with a full time employee. Don <br />informed the board that Marty Asleson was able to find a <br />temporary full-time person with all the necessary credentials <br />who will be starting this week.
