^ CITY OF LINO LAKES
PARK BOARD MEETING
MONDAY, JUNE 5, 1995
Sharon asked how much was budgeted for this park. Marty
responded $18, 000.00. Sharon then asked if this was enough to
grade and gravel the trails and put the boardwalk in. Marty said
this would have to be prioritized because there were other parks
in the city that have been waiting for two years to be paved.
Joe asked how much of the $9, 00 boardwalk cost was materials.
Marty said about 50 percent.
Pam asked if the 12" sand base was under the structure and if it
was sand or pea rock. Marty said it would be pea rock. He said
he had a source, this year, where we could get the pea rock free.
We would just have to pay city staff for hauling. A resident
said he was sure the residents would haul this for no fee.
Joe asked how much it would cost to gravel the trail rather than
asphalt it. Marty did not know what the cost would be. He said
he could get figures and start working on a budget if they were
going to have a meeting in the future. He told the residents
that specifications would have to be written so they would be
able to get bids.
George told the Brandywood Park residents what Wenzel Farms
residents have done to raise money for their park.
The residents said they want to get the trail, boardwalk, grading
and seeding done first and raise the money to do the playground
area next.
Joe expressed concern about not having lights in this enclosed
park. The residents said they are not concerned because it is a
neighborhood park and they will have their children at home when
it is getting dark. They did not think this was a top priority.
Pam asked what the average age of the children in the
neighborhood. The response was 60-70 percent were 3 to 8 years
old.
MOTION: Amy Donlin made a motion to accept this park master plan
concept. Sharon Lane seconded the motion. Motion was approved.
FURTHER DISCUSSION: George said we need to maintain what we have
with City staff and if necessary we should contract the work out
for the new parks. Marty thanked George for this consideration.
George then asked if Brauer was also providing a grade plan with
the master plans. Marty said no. There was other discussion on
grading and whether contractors could give bids from the master
plans.
3
