CITY OF LINO LAKES
PARK BOARD MEETING
MONDAY, APRIL 3, 1995
Amy wanted to know if there was a market for used playground
equipment. Marty said he found a piece, to look at, and he would
like to find a scout to do an Eagle Scout project to install the
equipment in one of our parks.
George wanted to know if Marty needed a directive. Marty said he
just wanted to let the board know the condition of our park
equipment and we should address this serious problem.
ATHLETIC COMPLEX UPDATE: George said Marty sent out letters to a
few property owners, in the City asking if they were interested
in selling to call and set up an appointment to talk. George
said he and Marty have been meeting with other residents about
their willingness to sell their property for an athletic complex.
He said we have only been exploring options but have not given up
on the Noreen property.
Ken wanted to know why we were still looking in the same area.
He wanted to know why we didn't go north of the freeway in the
Centerville area. George said we have to follow the
Comprehensive Plan but we have to go where we have a willing
seller at a realistic price. Ken also wanted to know if the
County would be willing to sell some property to the City. Marty
said that land is controlled by the Metropolitan Council.
Pam said the Centennial School District is planning on a bond
referendum this fall. Marty said he is aware of this and it
might make it hard for the City to pass a referendum for the
complex.
FRIENDS OF THE PARK UPDATE: Martha Wamsley had a memo and grant
criteria in the packet. She will attend the next meeting to
discuss the grant application process.
Marty said Circle-Lex Lions and Centennial Fire District have
donated money to the Friends of the Park for the Quad City Earth
Day celebration.
Betty talked about the Golf Tournament that will be at Chomonix
Golf Course on August 18, 1995 as a fundraiser for the Friends of
the Park. She said Chomonix is donating the golf course at no
charge for this event. She is looking for volunteers to help
with this fundraiser.
RECREATION PROGRAMS/EARTH DATE UPDATE:
Barry said registrations are going well. The adult softball
^ program is full and it doesn't start until May 1.
6
