CITY OF LINO LAKES
PARK BOARD MEETING
n MONDAY, OCTOBER 2, 1995
tri-city trail committee . (He would like to see this
committee comprised of staff people) John is also
interested in having this committee meets during the day at
set intervals . George wanted to know who should take the
initiative to setup a trail committee. Ray felt it should
be a subcommittee of the Park Board Committee. And should
meet quarterly. George said he would like this issue put on
the next Park Board meeting agenda. We need to look at how
to advertise this committee, to get members other than Park
Board members and city staff, what organizations to contact
for participants, and how to set it up.
There was discussion on obtaining grants and ISTEA funding.
Marty said there is money available but without joint
cooperative efforts it will be hard to obtain any of these
grants . He said Centerville is real interested in our trail
plan and athletic complex. Marty said he will also be
attending a meeting with the City of Hugo in January. He is
hoping we can include them in a joint efforts project .
Ray thought the survey is a great way to get a definite
answer on what the residents want in the city. Marty said
there is money in the 1996 budget to do a survey.
Sharon thanked the 20/20 group for the job they did and the
hard work they put into the process . She said the Park
Board appreciated their input and guidance .
UPDATES AND OLD BUSINESS:
Athletic Complex: Marty said he was on the City of
Centerville' s October Council Agenda for the athletic
complex and trail issues . He said they are excited about
the complex and trails and are interested in working with
the City of Lino Lakes on these issues .
He reported that he received a letter from the Minnesota
Department of Natural Resources notifying the city on the
status with the Outdoor Recreation Grant that he submitted
for the athletic complex.
Marty called the DNR to find out where we ranked, and we
were placed in the second grouping under the 19 applications
that were granted. They will assign a person to our area in
2
