CITY OF LINO LAKES
PARK BOARD MEETING
MONDAY, OCTOBER 2, 1995
Mary Fogarty said there was an average of 13 kids in the day
program and 18 in the evening classes .
Barry then talked about the adult programs and explained how
he came up with the figures on local users vs . outside
users . He said there was a good number of participants for
the basketball program and a very good number of
participants in the softball program. He talked about the
lack of facilities and the affect it had on holding some of
the programs . Barry feels we had a good but challenging
summer. It was either very hot or raining.
George asked Barry when he costs out expense vs income do we
include chalking, mowing etc . Marty said no, we do not .
Barry said the expenses include officiating staff, balls,
bases, etc. not maintenance.
Marty told the Park Board members that this report was going
to be very helpful when meeting with surrounding
communities .
Pam asked Barry about the youth tennis program and how it
went . She had questions on the USTA program. Barry said he
would like to offer the USTA Tennis program next year but he
will need to revamp the program. He will probably increase
the registration fees for this program.
Fawn Lane Park/Trail: Marty said we have had several mowing
complaints from this area this summer. He feels we need to
decide what should be done with this area. Some residents
want wild areas and some residents want manicured lawns .
The neighborhood association needs to put this on their
agenda to get a consensus of the residents . Marty will let
the Park Board know when the next meeting is going to be and
he hopes some members will attend the meeting.
Marty feels the land along trails is an issue that is going
to have to be dealt with. Sharon feels the residents should
make the decision and let Marty know what they want done.
Pam asked how do the residents decide what is going to be
n done and is this something that the Park Board needs to
address and set a policy. George said we need to catalog
these areas and the city staff people needs to use common
sense on how or what needs to be done, in a specific area,
and how often it needs to be done .
6
