City of Lino Lakes <br /> Park Board Goal Setting Meeting <br /> .-� Wednesday, September 20, 1995 <br /> future. He is waiting for a response on the grant that he <br /> wrote . <br /> He then discussed land development . He said the overriding <br /> objective is to develop parks that are in close proximity to <br /> established or developing neighborhoods . <br /> Barry then gave an overview of past and present data on <br /> recreation programs . He showed the increase in ballfield <br /> usage from 1993 - 1995 . He said the Centennial Little <br /> League, Forest Lake Girls Softball Program and the City of <br /> Lino Lakes ball programs played over 700 games on five <br /> ballfields . <br /> He told the board because of the lack of facilities he <br /> initiated a new reservation policy, this year, for <br /> requesting field usage . <br /> Soccer field usage - The primary user is the Centennial <br /> Soccer Association. The Lino Lakes Park and Recreation <br /> Department issued over 200 field reservation requests . <br /> The Centennial and Forest Lake Hockey Association had the <br /> majority of reserved ice time during the hours of 6-9pm. <br /> Barry then reviewed the rink attendance for 1993-1995 . At <br /> City Hall, Country Lakes, Sunrise and Birch parks the normal <br /> usage is 61 days per year. However, in 1995 the number of <br /> days used was 35 because of the weather. He said Lino Park <br /> was one of the busiest general skating rinks in 1995 . <br /> Sharon asked what the daily averages were. Barry answered <br /> Sunrise Park averaged 48, Birch Park - 20, City Halls usage <br /> was in the teens and Country Lakes averaged single digit <br /> numbers . <br /> Barry then talked about the real need for ball fields . He <br /> said he turned away over 12 teams in 1995 because of the <br /> lack of facilities . He says he will continue to accommodate <br /> as many teams as he can with the facilities he has . <br /> Marty said that he sent out questionnaires to athletic <br /> organizations and ball teams regarding the athletic complex <br /> asking them how they felt about the complex and if they <br /> 3 <br />
