He said the overriding objective is to develop parks that are in close proximity to established or developing neighborhoods . Barry then gave an overview of past and present data on recreation programs . He showed the increase in ballfield usage from 1993 - 1995 . He said the Centennial Little League, Forest Lake Girls Softball Program and the City of Lino Lakes ball programs played over 700 games on five ballfields . He told the board because of the lack of facilities he initiated a new reservation policy, this year, for requesting field usage . Soccer field usage - The primary user is the Centennial Soccer Association. The Lino Lakes Park and Recreation Department issued over 200 field reservation requests . The Centennial and Forest Lake Hockey Association had the majority of reserved ice time during the hours of 6-9pm. Barry then reviewed the rink attendance for 1993-1995 . At City Hall, Country Lakes, Sunrise and Birch parks the normal usage is 61 days per year. However, in 1995 the number of days used was 35 because of the weather. He said Lino Park was one of the busiest general skating rinks in 1995 . Sharon asked what the daily averages were. Barry answered Sunrise Park averaged 48, Birch Park - 20, City Halls usage was in the teens and Country Lakes averaged single digit numbers . Barry then talked about the real need for ball fields . He said he turned away over 12 teams in 1995 because of the lack of facilities . He says he will continue to accommodate as many teams as he can with the facilities he has .
