City of Lino Lakes
Park Board Goal Setting Meeting
Wednesday, September 20, 1995
would support it . He received a response back from the
Centennial Soccer Association in support of the complex.
The Centennial Youth Girls Fast Pitch Softball Association
will raise funds and anything else they can do to support
the complex. Barry said he has received favorable response
from several softball teams . Many are willing to do
fundraising to help pay for the lights or other needs .
Marty talked about the 1988 survey and park open space
acquisition. He feels the Park Board is on track with
community participation, staffing needs, recreation program
goals, and better record management and documentation.
Marty said that a lot of the 1993/1994 goals overlapped with
the 1995 goals . He then went over the 1995 goals and told
the members the status of each one.
He asked the board members to keep all the above information
in mind, along with the information that Marty has given
them, when establishing the Park Board Goals and Priorities
for 1996 .
Ken asked if we had a section of trail, in the city, that
was longer than two blocks long. Marty said yes and pointed
them out on the overhead.
Marty talked about park dedication fees . He gave the
members a copy of the chart he worked out on the computer.
George then discussed the 20/20 Project . He feels alot of
the 20/20 Advisory Committee' s ideas are in alignment with
the comprehensive plan. He thought it was good that they
saw the shortage in staff and were aware of the fiscal
responsibilities . He is not in agreement with the advisory
board on the community center concept . He feels there are
other more important issues . Marty says he thinks the
residents needs will come out in a survey. Pam said
residents might not want a community center because
surrounding communities have one. George said the survey
should address this issue properly so the residents are
.- aware that it is going to cost them money to build one.
Betty was concerned about offering the kids in the community
enough to keep them busy to entice them away from the gangs .
4
