City of Lino Lakes
11-N Park Board Goal Setting Meeting
Wednesday, September 20, 1995
Marty said we really need to look at providing a place for
the teens to go in the city.
George said that the 20/20 advisory board sees trails as a
number one issue as does the Park Board. He feels that when
the Park Board does their goal setting they need to do it
with more organization. They should structure it similar to
the 20/20 group and put deadlines on the goals and revisit
them from time to time.
Marty reviewed the 20/20 report . He talked about hiring a
consultant to help write grants . He then discussed trails
and told the board that he had received bids at 60 cents per
foot which was the same as last year. Then he said the most
important thing, that could be done in 1996, was a survey
and the money has been put in the budget for this .
Marty told the board that he sent a letter to District 12
School Superintendent John McClellan in regards to the
proposed school site on Elm Street . John has been in
contact with him and was very open to discussion. They
discussed the possibility of the school district building an
ECFE facility on a 30 acre parcel by Pheasant Hills
Preserve. John talked about doing a joint venture with the
city on some of this land.
After lengthy discussion, on what the members would like to
see done for parks and trails, the Park Board drafted the
following list of 1996 goals . These goals will be rated by
each member and prioritized after the next Park Board
meeting.
1 . Birch Park
Purchase a piece of property (peninsula) and create a
trail connection between Birch Park and the northern
portion of Trappers Crossing.
2 . Clearwater Creek
Trail development .
3 . Quail Ridge
Master plan, trail and boardwalk.
5
