Jane Rose, Anoka County <br />CSAH 34 (Birch St) Pedestrian Crossing Review and Analysis <br />May 18, 2020 <br />Page 4 <br /> <br />Pedestrian Crossing Analysis <br /> <br />A pedestrian crossing analysis was conducted for each proposed crossing location documenting <br />the sight lines, level of service (delay and gap) analysis, pedestrian safety, school crossing <br />considerations and alternative crossing treatment review. Each crossing is summarized below. <br /> <br />Marked Crosswalk Installation Flowchart: <br /> <br />Each crossing location was reviewed using the flowchart from the MnDOT Traffic Engineering <br />Manual, June 2015, shown in Appendix B. <br /> <br />Based on review of the flowchart for the crossings at the intersection of CSAH 34 (Birch Street) at <br />School Entrance / Tomahawk Trail a marked crossing should be install and additional treatments <br />considered. <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br />Based on review of the flowchart for the crossings at the intersection of CSAH 34 (Birch Street) at <br />West Shadow Lake Drive a marked crossing is not recommended however, additional treatments <br />should be considered. <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br />Sight Distance: <br /> <br />Vehicle stopping sight distance is the distance covered by a vehicle during a stopping procedure. <br />SSD should be provided at all pedestrian crossings.
