DESIGN REVIEW BOARD May 9, 1990 residence in the Lino Air Park. The street address is 359 Thomas Street. The Gages operate a day care facility for 12 children. They are requesting a conditional use permit that would allow the applicants to provide care for 14 children. The city's role here is control of land use not determining what should be done in the area of health and safety. In effect then, there is little if anything the city can do in these requests. MOTION: Robert Kin7 moved to recommend approval to the city council of Application #90 -24 to grant a conditional use permit to Sharon Gage for the operation of a day care facility for 14 children at 359 Thomas Street. The following condition is to be met. 1. All applicable state and county health and safety codes are to be met and all licenses, bonds, insurance and other requirements of state and county government are to be obtained and met. Monika Slatten seconded the motion and the motion was approved. NEW BUSINESS A. Set meeting date to review revised comprehensive plan. The board decided to review the revised comp. plan an hour before the next DRB meeting. The meeting will start at 6:00. B. Set meeting date to review revised zoning ordinance. The board will review sections of the zoning ordinance at a time. At the June DRB meeting Mr. Chase will let the board members know what will be covered. That section will be covered at the July DRB meeting date at 6:00, before the meeting starts. Laura Elken stated that beginning June 13th the design review board will video taped, and be shown live on cable TV. Margaret Strauss and her Son approached the board. They live at 6951 2nd Avenue. They wish build a home and not include an attached garage on the home. They have an unattached garage that was built three years ago. Fred Chase explained that current ordinance states that each new home that is built must have an attached garage. Page 8 1 1 1
