STAFF ORIGINATOR: <br />MEETING DATE: <br />TOPIC: <br />VOTE REQUIRED <br />INTRODUCTION <br />AGENDA ITEM 1K <br />Julie Bartell, City Clerk <br />November 14, 2022 <br />Approve Application for Aquinas Roman Catholic Home <br />Education Services to Conduct Excluded Bingo Event <br />Simple Majority (315 Vote Required) <br />The City has received an application from the Aquinas Roman Catholic Home Education <br />Services (ARCHES) organization to conduct an excluded bingo event at St. Joseph's <br />Church, 171 Elm Street, Lino Lakes on December 10, 2022. <br />BACKGROUND <br />Under Minnesota Statutes, Section 349.166, excluded bingo may be conducted by an <br />organization that conducts four or fewer bingo occasions in a calendar year, or in <br />connection with a county fair, the state fair, or a civic celebration if it is not conducted for <br />more than 12 consecutive days. The Aquinas Roman Catholic Home Education Services <br />organization meets this requirement. The organization also meets the requirements of the <br />Lino Lakes City Code since the physical site where the organization regularly conducts <br />its activities is located within the city (St. Joseph's Church). <br />The Application and a certificate of non-profit status from the Internal Revenue Service <br />are on file in the city clerk's office. <br />RECOMMENDATION <br />Approve the application for the Aquinas Roman Catholic Home Education Services <br />(ARCHES) to conduct an Excluded Bingo Event on December 10, 2022. <br />
