COUNCIL MINUTES September 28 , 2015 <br /> APPROVED <br /> 136 <br /> 137 4C ) Consider Acceptance of Tribute to the Troops /Patriot Ride Donation — Public Safety <br /> 138 Director Swenson explained that he is requesting authorization to accept a donation that is coming to <br /> 139 the city as a result of assistance provided for a recent event . <br /> 140 <br /> 141 The council offered thanks on behalf of the city for the generous donation . <br /> 142 <br /> 143 Motion by Council Member Rafferty , seconded by Council Member Stoesz , to accept a donation of <br /> 144 $ 300 , was adopted on a voice vote . <br /> 145 <br /> 146 4D ) Public Safety Department Update — Public Safety Director Swenson offered the following <br /> 147 information : <br /> 148 - Fire Station Project - there is rapid progress on the facility and roadway . Windows are being <br /> 149 delivered this week and much work is being accomplished in finishing the inside ; <br /> 150 - Personnel — there are 32 firefighters currently certified through Firefighter II ; an additional <br /> 151 seven persons are attending classes to become certified ; they are still interviewing candidates <br /> 152 including some that are already certified . <br /> 153 - Training — on - going training is occurring every Monday evening to ensure all members of the <br /> 154 Fire Division will be ready to go live in January ; <br /> 155 <br /> 156 Mayor Reinert noted the swearing - m ceremony that occurred earlier in the evening . That is a great <br /> 157 event for the city and he is thankful for the work of the department and Chief Swenson in bringing the <br /> 158 fire department efforts to fruition . He knows it hasn ' t always been easy . There are efficiencies being <br /> 159 created and forward thinking has made that possible . He is very respectful of the work of the city ' s <br /> 160 public safety personnel . <br /> 161 <br /> 162 PUBLIC SERVICES DEPARTMENT REPORT <br /> 163 <br /> 164 5A) Consider Resolution No . 15406 , Supporting the Development of the Bunker Chain of <br /> 165 Lakes Regional Trail — Public Services Director DeGardner introduced Karen Blaska , Planner with <br /> 166 Anoka County Parks and Recreation , who reviewed the Master Plan for the Bunker Chain of Lakes <br /> 167 Regional Trail ( on file ) . Her review included the location , boundaries , funding plans , and public <br /> 168 input . She noted that staff is seeking the city council ' s support to bring the plan forward to the <br /> 169 Anoka County Board and eventually the Metropolitan Council . <br /> 170 <br /> 171 Council Member Roeser noted that he just recently used a portion of the trail in Lino Lakes and he did <br /> 172 find it difficult to make certain connections ; he suggests more signage . <br /> 173 <br /> 174 Mayor Reinert noted that the trail system in the plan is more than one - half completed . It ' s has a <br /> 175 $ 6 , 000 , 000 cost that is shared by the Metropolitan Council and federal government . It ' s a great <br /> 176 amenity in the city . <br /> 177 <br /> 178 Council Member Kusterman noted that he utilizes the trails nearly every day ; they are great and he <br /> 179 encourages expansion . <br /> 180 <br /> 4 <br />
