CITY COUNCIL <br />AGENDA ITEM 3B <br /> <br /> <br />STAFF ORIGINATOR: Karissa Bartholomew, Human Resources Manager <br /> <br />MEETING DATE: April 9, 2018 <br /> <br />TOPIC: Appointment of Utilities Maintenance Worker <br /> <br />VOTE REQUIRED: 3/5 <br /> <br /> <br />INTRODUCTION <br /> <br />The Council is being asked to approve the appointment of Tim Paulno for a fourth Utilities <br />Maintenance Worker position in the Public Services Department. <br /> <br />BACKGROUND <br /> <br />The City Council approved, as part of the 2018 budget, the addition of a fourth utilities <br />maintenance worker within the Public Services Department. At this time, staff has completed the <br />recruitment process, provided a conditional offer, and is recommending approval of Mr. Tim <br />Paulno for the Utilities Maintenance Worker position. <br /> <br />Mr. Paulno has six years of experience in municipal utilities with the City of Shoreview, and <br />over 16 years of experience in water and sewer installation and repair in the private sector. <br />Paulno would come to the City holding all required water and sewer licenses, along with <br />additional licensures in septic system installation and pipe laying. <br /> <br />The hourly rate of pay would be $27.16, which is considered step 3/ base pay of the union <br />contract. With the Council’s approval, Mr. Paulno would begin employment with the City on <br />April 16th. <br /> <br />RECOMMENDATION <br /> <br />Approve the appointment of Tim Paulno for the Utilities Maintenance Worker position. <br />
